On Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg said that the Department of Justice ought to look into Fox News’ involvement in the recruitment of domestic terrorists.
“I have a question,” Goldberg said. “Why isn’t this considered to be recruiting? Why don’t they consider this to be radicalizing?”
“Like recruiting homegrown terrorists?” wondered Sunny Hostin, the co-host.
“Why isn’t this subject to the same scrutiny as other things,” questioned Goldberg? “Because in my opinion, doing this should be illegal. You shouldn’t be permitted to intentionally lie to the American people. It’s also one thing if you committed a mistake and were unaware of it. However, we have been told for the past five or six years that the media is a bunch of liars. The stories were false. How come then? What can we do as Americans to say that this is unacceptable?”
“The First Amendment prohibits willful lying,” she continued.
Hostin remarked, “With regard to domestic terrorism, you had FBI Director Chris Wray warn that domestic terrorists pose the greatest threat to our nation and the continued existence of our democracy. How do you find home-grown terrorists? How do you go about that? Misinformation.”
Goldberg remarked, in reference to the lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News, “It isn’t just one voice in the wind. The head of Fox is stating in these emails that this is what transpired and what happened. You were lying every night while you were out there, you knew it. I believe that should be a problem.”
“You knew and you knew people were still listening to you, yet you kept lying,” she continued. “And I hope the DOJ examines a vast amount of information and determines what to do about this.”
