I believed that having Florida Governor Ron DeSantis make his announcement on Twitter would be a wonderful reverence to new media and a big help to Twitter’s efforts to uphold free expression.
However, that was more than a bit difficult, let’s face it. Twitter Spaces went down. People that attempted to enter the Spaces were unable to do so and often encountered audible feedback.
For a while, DeSaster was trending on Twitter. I like Elon Musk and believe he is making a difference for all of us. The future belongs to Twitter and new media, which will eventually replace traditional media. However, it did not function very well for this announcement. It must be operational if so many people are ringing in to listen. If not, you harm DeSantis and the development of new media.
Once they got things going, as we stated, they did get into some material. It was a bit late, and a lot of people will be talking about the disruptive issues, which does not benefit DeSantis.
Trump used the opportunity to make light of DeSantis’ “failure to launch.”

The media is one area in which Trump is undoubtedly knowledgeable and on point. With regard to the announcement, Trump was right there with the comedy. That gives him the opportunity to assert that DeSantis is still learning how to communicate and that “I’m the guy” who knows. Trump also issued several attack advertisements that highlighted the accomplishments of his term.
