Leading Republicans in former President Donald Trump’s entourage staged a heated news conference on Tuesday outside of his “fake” business records trial in Manhattan.
Along with Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Cory Mills (R-FL), two of Trump’s previous challengers for the 2024 presidential campaign were present at the lunchtime news conference: Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND) and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.
Burgum, who opened the press conference, emphasized that the trial was “tying up the president from being out on the campaign trail” and referred to it as “election meddling.”
Afterward, he asserted that polls had “already acquitted” Trump in the case:
We are aware that President Trump is leading the nation according to recent polls, including one from Rasmussen Interactive this week and one from the New York Times. You can conclude that the American people have already found Donald Trump not guilty because he is much ahead of Joe Biden in all areas of concern, including inflation, crime, the border, and the economy.”
“The quicker this sham trial is over, the sooner the president can resume his campaigning and engage with the American people,” he continued.
Ramaswamy then declared that the trial was a “sham.”
“This is not America, the United States.” This is a banana republic from third grade. He said, “If this were occurring in another nation, we would be laughing at them as a phony democracy,” before concentrating on the prosecution and discrediting former Trump attorney Michael Cohen:
“As an American citizen, I feel embarrassed to be sitting in this dingy courtroom with fourth-rate legal prosecutors and a fifth-rate attorney on the stand as a witness who is actually violating attorney-client privilege many times over, watching the former and, let us face it, probably soon to be the next leader of the free world.”
In his speech, Donalds attacked Justice Juan Merchan, focusing particularly on his daughter Loren.

“This judge is the only one acting improperly. Is his daughter earning money to support Democrats? Additionally, the subject of every fundraising email and item. He refuses to remove himself. This is an injustice, according to Donalds.
He tore Bragg too.
The NYPD’s best are all present because of the farce taking place in that courtroom. In the meantime, New Yorkers are less safe, and the state’s district attorney is not pursuing serious criminal cases, he claimed.
Mills argued that the American people “understand this for what it is” and that Democrats “want to keep President Trump off the campaign trail.”
“What they are witnessing in the swing states around the country is depleting assets and resources that the president could use to keep pushing forward, to strengthen the economy, to protect our border, and to put our country back on track,” Mills stated.
He went on, “This is a hoax, and that is all it is.” “Michael Cohen is a weapon against our president; he lacks ethics and credibility.”
