On Saturday night in NY City, the Global Citizen music festival attracted more than 60,000 enthusiastic attendees. However, several attendees booed Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Speaker, who they did not give a warm welcome.
The Global Citizen group works to involve individuals in efforts to eradicate structural racism, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and economic inequities, as well as extreme poverty.
People who take part in authorized acts of activism are given tickets to the Global Citizen music event.
The organization’s website urges individuals to “continue taking action to encourage nations to keep investing in women and girls, call on global leaders to honor their commitments to finance climate measures for the world’s most disadvantaged, provide African farmers the support they need to address the world food crisis, and much more. By participating, you may also have the opportunity to earn some nice Global Citizen Rewards!”
People are urged by the organization to support particular programs like End Financial Distress NOW, Empower Girls NOW, Take Climate Change action NOW, and Break Systemic Boundaries NOW.
The young, liberal audience in New York City openly mocked Nancy Pelosi as she was announced to the throng, despite the progressive purpose of the event at Central Park.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, an actress, introduced Pelosi at the music festival before she was booed by the liberal audience.
According to the New York Post, Pelosi discussed climate change and carbon pollution.
The 82-year-old Pelosi addressed the unimpressed crowd, saying, “As speaker of the house, I came here to thank you for your bright activism, creative thinking, and dedication as global citizens.”
She continued as the crowd lost interest: “It’s because of your aid that the United States recently adopted historic environmental law, which will be a real game-changer. It would reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and provide a historic $370 billion to combat the climate problem,” the speaker said.
