The “pre-game” excitement surrounding Special Counsel Robert Hur’s hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on his findings regarding Joe Biden’s deliberate retention of secret papers and other sensitive material was well-founded.
Republicans persisted in emphasizing the two-tiered legal system in relation to Biden’s secret materials against those of Donald Trump, while Democrats persisted in attempting to quote Hur in a way that neither he nor his report did.
How awful were the Democrats, then? Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, claimed that Hur’s interrogation by the Democrats “seemed almost to verge on the crazy.”
In an interview with Fox News’ “America Reports,” Turley provided the ideal illustration.
“Well, I felt that today’s performance by the Republicans was really strong. Though at times the Democrats appeared to be on the verge of hallucinations, they are frequently well ahead in crafting hearings. Hur said, “I did not exonerate the president,” to which the Democrats responded, “Well, so you exonerated the president.” Hur said, “No, I didn’t,” to which they replied, “Thank you for that, with your exoneration.” Many viewers so likely found themselves constantly having to sort of go back and check if they missed anything.”
It’s important to keep in mind that Democratic politicians are only appealing to their base, which consists of ignorant voters who don’t care about the truth, when they engage in this type of absurd behavior.
And before the hearing even started, I’d wager a dime that every Democrat on the Judicial Committee, from the serial liar Adam Schiff (CA) to the “genius” Sheila Jackson Lee (TX), realized that Robert Hur is simply too intelligent to give in to their blatant attempts to spin his report as something it wasn’t.
Turley went on:
“The truth is that Hur repeatedly attempted to differentiate between the Democrats’ claim that the president had been exonerated and his conclusions, which indicate that he was not certain he could convict if he did bring any charges.”
Turley, like the majority of non-Democrats, is still surprised that Biden was not charged, especially in light of the accusations leveled against Trump.
