President Joe Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address was cut short by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who called him a “liar” for saying that Republicans seek to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare.
“Some Republicans want the sunsetting of Medicare and Social Security rather than requiring the rich to pay their fair share. I’m not claiming it’s the overwhelming majority,” Biden said.
Then, from her place in the House of Representatives, Greene yelled, “Liar!” Other Republicans in the audience yelled “no” and booed Biden after he erroneously stated the GOP wants to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare.
Greene reiterated her comments on Biden’s lying on Twitter as well.
Greene tweeted, “Joe Biden is lying to the American People.”
In response to a tweet concerning Biden’s assertions that the GOP wanted to remove certain entitlement programs, she said, “He’s a liar.”
