Newly released footage from inside Customs and Border Protection (CBP) vehicles paints a stark picture of the violent chaos federal agents encountered when radical rioters viciously attacked them this weekend.
These brave agents were carrying out their sworn duty: rounding up violent illegal aliens. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the targets of these ICE enforcement actions in Los Angeles were “the worst of the worst”—murderers, sex offenders, gang members, and drug traffickers. Yet, these lawless rioters chose to side with violent criminals over law-abiding Americans, hurling heavy rocks and chunks of concrete at federal agents’ vehicles.

The footage captures federal agents bravely attempting to maneuver through streets swarming with protesters-turned-rioters. As rocks and concrete rain down, it’s clear these agents were literally under siege. One chilling clip shows the shattered windshield of an attacked CBP vehicle, a stark reminder of the dangers our law enforcement heroes face daily.
DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin didn’t mince words when she slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for enabling this violent lawlessness. “Why do Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass care more about violent murderers and sex offenders than they do about protecting their own citizens?” McLaughlin demanded. “These rioters in Los Angeles are fighting to keep rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals loose on Los Angeles streets. Instead of rioting, they should be thanking ICE officers every single day who wake up and make our communities safer.”
President Donald Trump swiftly took decisive action, deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to restore order and safety. On Truth Social, President Trump blasted the incompetent leadership of Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass, noting their repeated failures during recent crises. “Great job by the National Guard in Los Angeles after two days of violence, clashes, and unrest,” Trump wrote. “We have an incompetent Governor (Newscum) and Mayor (Bass) who were, as usual, unable to handle the task.”
The President also announced a commonsense policy: banning masks at protests. “These Radical Left protests, by instigators and often paid troublemakers, will NOT BE TOLERATED,” he declared. “Also, from now on, MASKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to be worn at protests. What do these people have to hide, and why???”
This isn’t just about border security. It’s about fundamental law and order, the bedrock of American society. These riots prove once again that leftist politicians, particularly in California, prioritize criminals over law-abiding citizens. Their dangerous policies and rhetoric have emboldened mobs who now openly attack federal agents protecting our communities.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was unequivocal in supporting ICE agents, praising their courage and effectiveness. “The gang members we have picked up in L.A. because of their hard work are horrible people—assault, drug trafficking, human trafficking. They are now off of those streets, and they are safer because these ICE operations are ongoing,” Noem firmly stated.
Mayor Karen Bass initially condemned ICE’s enforcement actions—effectively siding with violent criminals—but later begrudgingly issued a statement condemning the violence after it became politically untenable. It’s classic leftist hypocrisy: encourage lawlessness until the public backlash becomes too strong to ignore.
