The families of twelve service members who died in the Abbey Gate bombing were angry when Vice President Kamala Harris attacked former President Donald Trump for going to Arlington National Cemetery on the third anniversary of the attack.
“As Vice President, I’ve had the chance to visit Arlington National Cemetery more than once. It’s a sad place. Politics have no place here. According to news reports this week, Donald Trump’s team decided to film a video there, which led to a fight with graveyard staff.” Harris wrote on X, “Let me be clear: the past president messed with holy ground for a political stunt.”
Harris continued to spread the “suckers and losers” lie. At the end of her statement, she said, “I will always respect the service and sacrifice of all of America’s fallen heroes, who gave their lives for our beloved country and our dear freedoms. I mourn for them and honor them. And I will never make them political.”
Seven families of people who died in the Abbey Gate bombing signed a letter and made videos in which they expressed their disgust at Harris’s remark and said that she had not called out to them since the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, even though they had tried to do so.
“It breaks our hearts that Vice President Kamala Harris tried to make President Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery about politics. We are the families of the brave service members who died in the Abbey Gate bombing. We, the Gold Star families, asked President Trump to attend this sad event marking the third anniversary of the deaths of our children.” The letter says, “He was there to respect their loss, but Kamala Harris has shamefully turned this holy moment into a political ploy.”

“Vice President Harris is to blame for the deaths of our children and grandchildren. Even though we asked Vice President Harris several times for a meeting to talk about the deaths of our loved ones, she has ignored us all the times, showing that she has no compassion or sense of responsibility. As Gold Star families, we feel deeply betrayed that she won’t take responsibility for the choices her government made,” the letter said.
