According to the Department of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, local authorities disregarded an ICE detainer in a prior molestation case, leading to the arrest of an illegal alien for child molestation.

On April 15, ICE sent a news statement describing the 30-year-old immigrant’s arrest at his Bladensburg, Maryland, home.

The Honduran national was detained in July and charged with criminal conduct against a child aged 13 to 14 without using force, according to the announcement.

Authorities, according to ICE, submitted a detainer to keep the guy pending potential deportation; however, on July 10, the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center turned down the request and freed the man on a $10,000 bail.

On two counts of the same crime and one extra count of felony indecent liberties with a kid under the age of fifteen, Fairfax police officers then arrested the same immigrant in February.

Before ICE could submit a detainee, Fairfax officials released him again that same day.

Deportation authorities detained him in April, according to ICE, and gave him a notice to appear before an immigration court of the Department of Justice.

Liana Castano, field director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, chastised Fairfax officials for turning down a request for a detainee and enabling the undocumented immigrant to commit new crimes.

Castano stated, “This noncitizen from Honduras is accused of some very severe offenses and posed a threat to the children in the Washington, D.C., region.”

She continued, “Local jurisdictions endanger suspects, law enforcement personnel, and most importantly, the people who live in our communities when they implement policies that forbid them from assisting ICE ERO and from upholding our legally granted detainers and administrative warrants. “ERO Washington, D.C. will keep putting the needs of the public first by capturing and eliminating the most serious threats from outside our communities.”

A comparable event occurred in December when Fairfax authorities disregarded an ICE detention order against a 21-year-old Honduran immigrant who had sexually assaulted a kid and created child pornography.

Officials from ICE chastised local officers for also ignoring detainees during that period.

Deputy Field Office Director Erik Weiss stated, “The public is put at risk when local authorities ignore ICE detainers; unfortunately, this time the result was the needless injury of a federal law enforcement officer while prosecuting a noncitizen charged with sexual abuse and producing child sexual abuse material.”
