An “unofficial” poll with shocking results about the vice president’s chances in Nevada made people “surprised that they showed that” after a CBS News segment requesting backers.
In recent years, big differences in polls have shown that Donald Trump beat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and that there wasn’t a big red wave in the 2022 midterm elections. When a “CBS Mornings” report tried to get voters’ direct feedback, this is what happened.
“We had a great time, but what really amazed us was how friendly everyone was in every place,” Adriana Diaz, a reporter for CBS News, said. “In every restaurant, we could only find one person who supported Harris. We searched every inch of the ground. I talked to every single person.”
One clip of Diaz at a Silver State diner featured women who were critical of the “border czar’s” mistakes.
“I’m very worried about the border,” said one. “Baloney,” said another woman in response to reports that most of the illegal immigrants were looking for “asylum.” “They’re coming here to get free stuff.”
“Illegals need to leave,” she told Diaz.
“There are people who have come here properly,” said another woman in the cafe, whose conservative views on immigration are often ignored by the mainstream media. “Why are people who haven’t worked in our country or put into the system pushed away in favor of people who have?”
The most current RealClearPolitics polls average showed that Harris still had a 1.2% edge over Trump, with 47.6% to 46.4%. President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July, but the GOP leader was still ahead in Nevada, even though he lost the state in 2016 and 2020.

When Diaz asked a voter about hope, the person replied, “I’ve never owned a gun in my life and I now own four of them.” The voter’s wife then said, “I want someone who is strong, who expects respect and gets it, and who can deal with foreign leaders. I believe Trump is the best candidate.”
