The left is still determined to make things as hard as possible for former President Donald Trump, and they are working extra hard as Election Day gets closer.
Special counsel Jack Smith is one of them. He is bringing back his case against Trump based on classified papers in an effort to jail the Republican candidate for president.
Jeff Clark, who used to be the assistant attorney general of the U.S. DOJ, tells Glenn Beck, “New indictment is the same as the old indictment. He just rewrote it to try to make it work with everything else.”
Clark says, “Smith says that everything President Donald Trump did that he had accused him of the first time is actually a set of private acts rather than a set of public acts, so Trump is not immune.”
“Are they spreading lies about him again now that the election is close to being over? Or is this a plan for if he wins—they believe this will keep him out of office?” Glenn asked.
“All of those,” Clark says. “They want to stop him no matter what, so this is meddling in the election. For such a short time before a big election, you should not be using a new grand jury to hand out a new charge.”
Glenn doesn’t like how things are going.
He tells Clark, “I think they’ll jail him in September.”
Clark is also worried because he plans to be in Judge Merchan’s court in NY on September 18 if the sentence goes through.
Clark predicts that Judge Merchan will turn down the move for a new trial based on immunity. He will then hand down the sentence, and Clark says that he wouldn’t be shocked if he sent President Trump to prison.
Even so, Trump could still win the race even if he gets jail time.
Clark says, “Any kind of imprisonment would have to end or be delayed during the time after he is installed. Since he would already be the legally chosen and installed president of the United States, it would be preempted by the Constitution.”
He also says, “A state sentence can’t stop him.”
