Trump told the people of the United States that he would “drain the swamp” when he took office in 2017.
However, the swamp was never cleared, and the former president told RFK Jr. how he felt about failing as president.
RFK told Bradley Martyn of the Nelk Boys on “The Full Send Podcast,” “I think you need a president who is ready to go in there and who is not part of that system.”
“That looks like President Trump to me. My guess is that President Trump tried to do that the last time, to drain the swamp. He meant well, but he didn’t know how to do it. He told me that. He said something like, You know, I didn’t know anything about running a government.” He also said, “We won this election and now you have to fill 60,000 jobs.”
“He said, ‘I was surrounded by people, by politicians and business interests,'” RFK said, adding that Trump was under pressure to choose certain people.
“I don’t want to do that again,” he told me. “Those people are bad, and we’re going to do something different this time,” he said.
“He wants to help this country. He asked me to help him do that because I know how to do it. If we do that and he does what he says, I’m very confident that we can clean up a lot of this crime,” he said in the end.
Rubin said he liked what he heard.
“Hearing him talk about this stuff, it’s real and true, and I believe him when he says that’s what he talked to Trump about—that Trump doesn’t want to make those mistakes again,” he says, adding, “so Trump should be a little humble.”
