Tragedy Strikes: JD Vance’s 2021 Warning Ignored

They laughed at JD Vance in 2021. Now a National Guard member is dead, and no one’s laughing anymore.

Back during Joe Biden’s chaotic and humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan, JD Vance — then a Senate candidate — had one clear message: slow down, stop bringing in thousands of unvetted Afghan refugees, and get our Americans out first. But instead of listening, the political class — especially weak Republicans like Ben Sasse — chose to virtue signal and ignore serious national security concerns.

Fast forward to this week in Washington. Two National Guard members were shot. One of them, Sarah Beckstrom, just passed away. And the suspect? An Afghan refugee who never should’ve been here in the first place.

This tragedy could have been avoided. And the warning signs were there — JD Vance was one of the few voices brave enough to speak out when it mattered most.

Here’s the video that’s going viral again for all the right reasons:

In the video, Vance doesn’t mince words. While establishment Republicans like Ben Sasse were emotionally grandstanding, Vance drilled down to the real question: who do we owe a duty to — Afghan refugees or the American people?

“The obvious answer should be American citizens,” Vance said. “Let’s focus first on getting them out of Afghanistan before we say another word about Afghan refugees.”

That’s not heartless. That’s called putting America first — something that used to be common sense before the swamp lost its mind.

But the media and the left couldn’t stand it. They called Vance “xenophobic.” They said he was “fearmongering.” They said Afghan refugees were all “vetted.”

Really? Tell that to the families of the soldiers who just got shot. Tell that to the victims of the planned terrorist attack in Oklahoma last year — also linked to an Afghan refugee Biden let in with zero proper vetting.

And when Vance brought this up again earlier this year, the media tried to shut him down — again. Margaret Brennan from CBS smugly claimed, “These people are vetted!” Vance leveled her with one line: “Just like the guy who planned a terrorist attack in Oklahoma a few months ago?”

Boom. Checkmate.

The sad truth is, Vance was right all along. There was no thorough vetting in 2021. Biden’s team was in such a rush to cover their own failures and look “compassionate” that they fast-tracked tens of thousands of people into the U.S. with no idea who they really were. It was reckless. And now Americans are paying the price.

This isn’t just about one tragic shooting. This is about a pattern. The left and their media allies want to frame every warning as “hate” or “fear.” But what happens when those warnings come true?

Vance wasn’t being cruel. He was being responsible. And he stood almost alone at the time, getting attacked by Democrats and Republicans alike for daring to say what needed to be said.

Now he’s Vice President, and the only thing that’s changed is that his warnings are getting harder to ignore.

Maybe next time the media and the open-borders crowd will actually listen. But knowing them, probably not.

So here we are again — mourning one of our own. A young National Guard member, dead. And for what? To feel good about a broken refugee policy?

Enough is enough. It’s time we finally admit it: JD Vance was right. And we need more leaders with the guts to speak the truth before it’s too late.
