James Carville, a political adviser for the Democratic Party, claimed on MSNBC’s “The Beat” on Wednesday that the Republican Party’s behavior during the State of the Union address reached shocking new heights of “white trashdom.”
“Well, you know, I told folks that I have a Ph.D. in white trashology,” Carville added. “On exhibit, you witnessed actual white trash. Let me make a comment on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. She portrays herself as white trash. She really needs a stylist. I advise hiring George Santos. He might dress in a way that prevents her from announcing her white trash status through her appearance and attitude.”
“First of all, their desire to slash Social Security and Medicare is widely known,” he stated. “After shutting down the government, Newt Gingrich ultimately lost. We are aware of George W. Bush’s attempts to privatize Medicare and Social Security. We are aware that John Boehner and also Paul Ryan, while he served as Speaker, did everything within their power to reduce Social Security and Medicare. We are aware of their goal being that. I felt President Joe Biden had a terrific night last night, and he is absolutely correct to move through with this. The degree of white trashdom in the Republican Party is astounding, that much is certain. For someone who has studied it for a long time, as I have, I can honestly say that I’ve never seen it emerge to the degree that it is now.”
“You cannot do anything,” he said. “They have low-quality individuals. According to the police complaint, Lauren Boebert allegedly met her husband when he exposed himself to her at a bowling alley. This information is accurate. They identify as this. They went directly into the trap, and even McCarthy, who is as cowardly and lacking in guts as he is, knew it. It’s incredible.”
“You know, generally I’m fairly gloomy about the condition of American politics and, to a certain degree, the status of American society, but I thought this was instructive,” Carville said in his conclusion. “Man, this was fun, you have to admit that. If you appreciate entertainment, you wouldn’t be able to watch this and allow the spouse of Lauren Boebert to expose himself, if you will, to show how really trashy these people are. What jerks they are. What rude people they are. And at this level, you don’t get to witness this very frequently. And last night, you really got to see it at this level. I really believe that nobody cares about the State of the Union, you know. It has no effect on anything. I’m not sure what changed last night, but I found it to be quite entertaining.”
