James Comey, a former director of the FBI, came under fire on Thursday for what appeared to be his response to the news that former President Trump had been charged in connection with a 2016 hush money payment plan to porn actress Stormy Daniels by a Manhattan grand jury.
Trump has become the first former president to face criminal charges, which is a politically motivated weaponization of the legal system And as law expert Jonathan Turley argued, given the standards in this case, he now likely won’t be the last.
Comey, who was dismissed by Trump in 2017, wrote on Twitter, “It’s been a good day.”
Comey got a lot of tweets in response.
“You finally got your scalp with a bogus charge from a political DA, only 6 years after you concealed in the draperies during the Trump Inauguration, undermined him with the false Steele Dossier and released it to CNN, got dismissed, and created a catastrophe that was the Mueller special counsel.”
Trump referred to the charges as “political persecution along with election interference at the highest possible level in history” and promised to “throw” out all of the “crooked Dems. in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
