Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) criticized Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg for how he handled the East Palestine, OH train crash during an interview on FNC’s “Hannity” on Tuesday.
Buttigieg, according to Greene, was preoccupied with the wrong topics prior to the disaster.
Sean Hannity, the host, said that “you know, some folks speak about, for instance, wind turbines leading to the death of bird life and whales, etc., in that scenario. Then there is the poisonous chemical problem in Ohio and Palestine that we covered earlier in the show, and I don’t hear anything whatsoever from the new green deal climate skeptic cult about what is by all accounts an environmental catastrophe. Nobody seems to want to talk about either of those topics. Why?”
“Well, I don’t know,” Greene said. “I don’t understand why AOC isn’t wearing white and waving a white flag in support of the dead whales that are showing up on the beach due to the wind farms that are being built all over the ocean. And some are raising concerns about how this is leading to unprecedented numbers of whales beaching themselves in addition to the untold thousands of bird species being killed. Sean, Pete Buttigieg is the true issue. As the Secretary of Transportation, he prioritizes diversity and inclusion over rail safety in his employment decisions, grant-giving plans, and most likely chest-feeding or something similar. And there is where our nation is really in jeopardy.”
As she explained, “Pete Buttigieg never was qualified for the position. You see, train derailments are occurring every single day, and now thousands of people, birds, and animals are all sick,” she said. “I think we really ought to haul him in our committees and start questioning him over what’s truly happening in his dept. And we’re not sure what will happen as a result of this terrible disaster in East Palestine. But there are those like Ilhan Omar. She desires to put a stop to corporate greed in relation to trains and the privately held rail segments. But in reality, all we need to do is make sure that our rails are secure. Only $1 billion of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure plan enacted by Democrats included funding for train safety. This is an error. We must hold Democrats, particularly Pete Buttigieg, responsible for this because it would never have happened under a Republican-controlled infrastructure plan.”
