The Pennsylvania Supreme Court delivered a blow to Democrat election shenanigans on Monday, ruling that mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect dates cannot be counted in the 2024 election. This ruling is a significant victory for Republican officials fighting tooth and nail to protect a narrow Senate win against a recount challenge in the Keystone State.
In a 4-3 decision, the state’s highest court reinforced its earlier judgment that Pennsylvania counties must adhere to strict standards for mail-in and absentee ballots. Specifically, the court told election boards in Philadelphia, Bucks County, and Montgomery County to knock off their attempts to bend the rules, declaring they “SHALL COMPLY” with prior rulings. In other words, Democrats don’t get to play fast and loose with election laws just because they’re bitter about losing.
This ruling comes as Republican Senate candidate David McCormick holds a razor-thin 17,000-vote lead over three-term Democrat Senator Bob Casey. McCormick’s win falls within the 0.5% margin that triggers an automatic recount under Pennsylvania law. But ahead of the recount, Republican officials were quick to call out Democrat-controlled counties for trying to sneak in incorrectly dated or undated mail-in ballots, despite the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s prior decisions.
Republican Party Chair Michael Whatley didn’t mince words, promising an “aggressive, comprehensive, and strategic legal posture” to ensure the election is certified fairly. He also slammed Democrat operatives for what he called “corrupt and despicable conduct” in their attempts to undermine election integrity.
The court’s ruling also clarifies a key legal point: requiring handwritten dates on mail-in ballots is constitutional. This isn’t a minor technicality. It’s about ensuring elections are conducted by the book, not through loopholes Democrats exploit to tip the scales. By singling out counties attempting to defy the law, the court has sent a clear message that such conduct won’t be tolerated.
The Pennsylvania GOP’s fight underscores what’s at stake: protecting the sanctity of elections in the face of constant Democrat attempts to muddy the waters. It’s yet another reminder that while Democrats cry about “defending democracy,” they’re all too eager to trample it when the results don’t go their way.
