This week, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) attempted to corner Tony Bobulinski, a former business colleague of Hunter Biden, but it was unsuccessful.
“Is it your testimony today that you personally watched President Joe Biden commit a crime?” was the “simple” question that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posed to Bobulinski during a heated House Oversight Committee hearing.
Bobulinski said, “Yes.” “How long do I have to complete it?”
Then, in an attempt to make political gains, Ocacio-Cortez revealed her own lack of legal knowledge, which made her the object of internet ridicule.
She insisted that Bobulinski “identify” the crimes he claimed to have seen President Joe Biden conduct after he confirmed his statement. Bobulinski mentioned “corruption legislation,” Foreign Agents Registration Act, conspiracy, and the Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organizations Act.
“Sir, what is the crime? In particular?!” Ocasio-Cortez made a request.
“You ask that I respond to the query. I provided a response to the query,” Bobulinski said. “You clearly don’t know about FARA, RICO, or corruption legislation.”
“Pardon me, sir.” Ocasio-Cortez made a statement. “There is no criminality associated with RICO. It belongs to a category. “What is the offense?”
Bobulinski told Ocasio-Cortez that RICO is a “category of crimes” despite her dismissive demeanor, and he asked if she wanted him to name the particular laws he thought Biden had broken. Bobulinski attempted to respond after Ocasio-Cortez responded “yes,” but she interrupted him, stating that it was unnecessary because the majority of the politicians there are attorneys.
Sadly, Ocasio-Cortez is primarily mistaken.
The U.S. Criminal Code’s Title 18 contains the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, a federal act that is separate and distinct from other criminal law and criminal processes.
This is strange. Without a doubt, it is illegal to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 1961–1968). Frequently, it leads to severe felonies,” noted seasoned attorney Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
“Someone needs to tell the Left that just because you are loud does not mean you are correct,” said Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) in closing.
