What happened to Chuck Schumer? That’s the million-dollar question liberal talking heads are asking after eight Democratic senators broke ranks and sided with Republicans to end the government shutdown. Even MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, former Biden press secretary turned cable news pundit, is scratching her head—and she’s not exactly known for calling out her own side.
On her show “The Briefing,” Psaki ran an old clip of Schumer from just a few weeks ago. In the video, Schumer was full of fire and fury, swearing about how Republicans were trying to take away health care from millions. He said Democrats had “three words” for the GOP’s plan: “No f—ing way.” Dramatic music, strong language, the whole nine yards. Schumer was acting like he was ready to go to war.
But that was then.
Now? Eight members of his own caucus—including big names like Dick Durbin and John Fetterman—just voted with Republicans to pass a resolution and get the government running again. That’s not exactly the kind of “resistance” the left was promising. So Psaki is asking what happened to that “fiery” Chuck Schumer. Where did he go?
Watch the latest video:
Let’s break this down. The government shutdown started because Democrats refused to negotiate on spending unless they got more money for Obamacare subsidies. Their strategy? Blame Republicans, stir up fear, and hope the polls would carry them through.
But it backfired.
According to Sen. Angus King—an Independent who votes with the Democrats—that plan “didn’t work.” He admitted it only gave President Trump more power. And when even Dick Durbin, the number two Democrat in the Senate, jumps ship, you know something’s gone sideways.
Psaki wasn’t having it. She slammed King on live TV and insisted “that’s not the lesson.” She argued Democrats should have kept fighting, no matter what. In her words, they shouldn’t fight “with one hand tied behind their backs” just to look bipartisan.
Translation? She wants more left-wing radicals, fewer deals, and fewer adults in the room.
Psaki even suggested it might be time for “different leaders” in the Democrat Party—more “alpha,” she said. That’s a fancy way of saying the current crop of Democrats is too weak to stand up to Trump and the GOP.
Now here’s the kicker: This all comes after Democrats won a few races last week and claimed it was some kind of blue wave. Psaki pointed to those wins as proof that Americans want Democrats to “stand up” to Trump. But if that were true, why did nearly 20% of the Democrat Senate caucus just vote with Republicans?
Because at the end of the day, the American people are tired of the political games. They’re tired of the shutdowns, the stunts, and the screaming matches. They want results. And President Trump is delivering.
The shutdown is over. The government is back open. And the Democrat Party is eating itself alive on national television.
Psaki tried to spin it as a failure of leadership. She might be right—but not in the way she thinks. The real failure was believing that obstruction and outrage would win the day. It didn’t. Trump held the line, and even Democrats had to admit they had no choice but to fold.
Chuck Schumer hasn’t disappeared. He just got outplayed. Again.
And the left? They’re too busy fighting each other to notice.
Stay tuned, folks. This isn’t over.
