Republicans Demand Release Of Covid Information

According to a report from Fox News, the Senate passed a bill on Wednesday evening that would declassify any information pertaining to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and its potential connections to the COVID-19 virus’s origins.

Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Mike Braun (R-IN) introduced the bill, which is dubbed The COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023.

The bill’s text states that “determining the origin of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is essential for avoiding another pandemic of that kind in the future. The Director of National Intelligence should make as much information as possible about the genesis of COVID-19 available to the public through declassification.”

In a press release, Hawley’s office urged the Biden Admin. to declassify all origin data.

“Anyone who questioned if COVID-19 was the result of a lab leak epidemic was suppressed for almost three years and labeled a conspiracy theorist. These cautious skeptics now feel justified. All intelligence reports relating to the origins of COVID-19 and also the Wuhan Institute of Virology must be immediately declassified by the Biden administration. The American people have a right to know the truth,” according to Hawley.

“The American public deserves openness that is unfiltered by the government or the media. The Wuhan Institute of Virology’s history as well as the beginnings of COVID must now be made public,” Braun continued.

The House Democrats are predicted to oppose the bill.

“We believe in allowing committees of jurisdiction steer the conversations moving forward, engaging with the administration, and asking the administration tough questions,” said Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., head of the House Democrat Caucus, on Wednesday.

“Declassification discussions are best left to the administration,” he said, “adding that when we can do so in a way that the American public can understand, we will.”
