On Sunday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) personally presented a letter to President Joe Biden during the president’s trip to the border between the United States and Mexico.
The opening line of the letter read, “Your visit to our southern Mexican border today is $20 billion far too little and two years too late. Additionally, you bypass the locations of massive illegal immigration and the thousands of incensed Texas property owners whose lives have been ruined by your border policies during your tour.”
The letter continued, “Your Administration wishes to insulate you from the chaos that Texans endure on a daily basis. Even the city you visit has been scrubbed of the migrant camps which had overwhelmed downtown El Paso. Your failure to implement the immigration rules that Congress passed is the clear cause of this mess,” the speaker said.
In the letter, Abbott emphasized how much safer the U.S. border was during the previous administration and how Biden’s policies have led to the biggest illegal immigration catastrophe in American history.
The letter said that “your open-border policies have empowered the cartels, who make money by smuggling deadly fentanyl and even people. According to local leaders from your own party, Texans are paying an unusually high price for your failure, sometimes with their very lives.”
Abbott informed the president that his failure to uphold his constitutional duty to “protect the States against invasion by the faithful execution of federal laws” was the root of the situation.
When Biden had completed “the photo-ops in a carefully stage-managed rendition of El Paso,” Abbott instructed him to:
- You must abide by the numerous laws that stipulate that different types of aliens “must” be detained and stop the practice of illegally paroling aliens in large numbers.
- You must fully implement the Remain-in-Mexico policy and Title 42 expulsions as the federal courts have instructed you to do, and you must stop sandbagging its execution.
- You must vigorously pursue unauthorized entry between ports of entry and give ICE permission to deport unauthorized immigrants in accordance with current federal law.
- You must use the enormous sums of money Congress has allocated for this reason to start building the border wall in the State of Texas right away.
- The Mexican drug cartels must be classified as foreign terrorist groups.
