Olympic Athlete Who Turned Her Back on Anthem Supported by Leftist Group

Former Speaker of the Oklahoma House T.W. Shannon rips Gwen Berry for turning away during the National Anthem and argues she should be barred from competition.

The Fox Business interviewed revealed Berry is sponsored by Color of Change, a leftist group that advocates defunding the police.

Shannon said, “She should be barred. Every single American should stand for the National Anthem.”

She added, “That is what we honor, the sacrifices of American men and women who died, many of them were African-American by the way. I don’t understand how anybody cannot stand for the National Anthem.”

She said, “I get emotional every time I hear it.”

Shannon argued, “Ms. Berry said she didn’t disrespect the country or hate the country but in reality she turned her back on the country. What country does she turn her face to more? Black people live freer around…better than most people in the world.

“Black Americans, if this country separated as their own country, African-Americans would be the 13th wealthiest country in the world. I don’t know what her problem is with America.”

Shannon is right. This is not about whether she likes America or not. She seems more concerned about her progressive sponsorship than honoring the country sponsoring her for the Olympics. If so, she should find another country to represent, because her attitude clearly does not represent America.
