Pence made the remarks during a recent Fox News appearance, expressing dismay at Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) suggestion that if the GOP regains control of the U.S. House, the spigot of billions for Ukraine may be stopped.
“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy… has stated that if Republicans take control, America will no longer be a ‘blank check’ for the Ukraine war. Do you have a problem with that?” Pence was questioned by Fox News journalist John Roberts.
Pence grumbled before repeating the War Party’s vacuous talking points.
“You know, throughout our history, the United States has recognized the importance of being the leader of the free world. That includes being the democratic arsenal,” Pence said.
“During Ronald Reagan’s presidency, we recognized the importance of confrontation. The importance of challenging Russians and communists around the world, not necessarily by fighting them physically, but by ensuring that those opposing communists, whether in our hemisphere or elsewhere, have the resources they require,” he added. “I think this is going to be a battle.”
Pence recently praised Biden’s belligerence in Ukraine and spoke harshly about Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin in order to convey to military contractors that he will be their bought-and-paid-for candidate for president in 2024.
“Our movement cannot abandon our fundamental devotion to security, limited government, liberty, and life.” “However, we cannot allow the siren song of opportunist populism, which is unmoored from our oldest traditions and most treasured principles, to lead our movement astray,” Pence warned. “Let me say this: This movement, and the group that it animates, must stay a movement for a powerful national defense, limited government, and traditional moral beliefs and way of life.”
