Manchin Walks Out on Schumer’s Victory Lap Attempt

West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin walked out during Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s speech on Friday, after the Senate leader sought to make the two-month debt ceiling extension into a victory speech.

As the speech rambled on, Manchin first put his hands over his face in a look that well-expressed how many Americans watching the speech also felt. Schumer already knows Democrats could have passed a new debt ceiling bill on their own, but not without actually negotiating back down to reality, including with Manchin in his own party.

By a minute later, Manchin couldn’t take it any more. He simply stood up and walked out. The action shows not even every Democrat is on board with the ridiculous moves taking place within the party to self-destruct America.

Manchin also opposes the president’s $3.5 trillion spending bill and has argued he will not agree to any bill that removes the Hyde Amendment that is included in the current form of the bill.

The Hyde Agreements currently restricts the government from using taxpayer dollars for abortions. The Democrat spending plan would change this, making you, the American taxpayer, a funder of abortion.

Manchin, one of the remaining pro-life Democrats, has long opposed the change. He’s not progressive enough for his own party anymore, though many Americans hope he holds up during the current Democratic efforts.
