Liberals In New York Fight Each Other–All To Avoid Their Own Policy

This week, people in New York City attacked Mayor Eric Adams (D), saying that the problems they are having are because of how he has dealt with the migrant situation.

The New York Post reported this week, based on audio it got, that Queens neighbors who were protesting the encampment at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center had strong words for the mayor following an event at Saint Gregory the Great Church in Bellerose:

Adams spoke to the group and said, “If you think I haven’t done my job in the past eighteen months dealing with the mess I inherited, well, that’s the mess I inherited. You can do whatever you want.”

But one person at the event fired back at Adams. Phil Orenstein, the head of the Queens Village Republican Club, asked the mayor to ask his president to stop sending people to the area.

According to Breitbart News, Adams said in April that President Biden’s (D) immigration problem is “destroying” his city. The news source also talked about how much the trouble was costing:

“From July 2022 to March, NYC spent $817 million to deal with the migrant problem, according to the Office for Budget and Management. The estimates show that the migrant problem is going to cost the city $4.2 billion from June 2023 to the end of the fiscal year 2024.”

According to the Post, Orenstein talked about how frustrated people in the area are about the migrant camp at Creedmoor. Then he told the mayor that he had to send them back to Mexico and Washington, DC.

He also pointed to empty buildings on Rikers Island, where roughly 30,000 migrants are said to be living.

“Not at Creedmoor, though. No, not in our area. You’re going to hurt our neighborhood and lower the value of our homes. There will be crimes. From what I heard,” Orenstein said, “There will be drug use.”

He also said that there were a lot of unknowns about letting so many refugees into the area, such as curfews, the screening process, and diseases.

Orenstein said, “As one of your voters, I need you to get them back to Washington, D.C. Return them to Mexico. Do something brave. Protect your people. We are part of you!”

But the mayor said that if the city started sending refugee seekers back to their home countries, the federal government could punish the city, and the city could lose the money it needs to find answers.

Adams recently thought about a plan to put thousands of border crossers and illegal immigrants in a camp inside Central Park. Breitbart News stated on August 4 that the government was also thinking about putting up camps as well as tent cities in 3,000 other places.

Breitbart News says that in just the first ten days in August, almost forty thousand aliens were caught at the Southwest border.
