DeSantis’ director of communications, Taryn Fenske, stated to Fox News Digital:
“Yes, Florida is able to attest that the two planes carrying illegal aliens who arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were a part of the state’s relocating plan to send them to safe havens.”
She went on to name the states that would be more accommodating to illegal immigrants:
States like NY, Massachusetts, and California, by encouraging illegal immigration under their classification as “sanctuary states” and backing of the Biden Admin’s open border policy, would better enable the care of these people who they have encouraged into our country.

“As you may know, in the most recent legislative session, the Legislature of Florida appropriated $12 million to achieve a program to facilitate the transporting of illegal migrants from this state consistent with the federal law.”
For those who may not be aware, former President Barack Obama invested millions in a Martha’s Vineyard home in 2019. Bill Murray, Reese Witherspoon, and even Princess Diana are just a few of the famous people who currently reside in Martha’s Vineyard or have in the past.
DeSantis’ staff responded to his suggestion to transfer illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard as follows:
We did not agree to Biden’s open-borders policy. Therefore Floridians are not obligated to pay for illegal foreigners to live in our state.
Some people concur with DeSantis and Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, that illegal immigrants need to be deported to places that advertise themselves as sanctuary towns and states. Kari Lake, a candidate for governor of Arizona, is one of those who disagrees. She referred to Abbott’s choice to bring illegal immigrants to New York and Washington, D.C., as a “nice photo op.”
Lake stated:
“While it makes for a cute photo opportunity, it only pushes undesirables further into the nation. I believe that we ought to bring the buses, take them to the border, and send them away.”
Because the leaders of these cities, like Eric Adams, Muriel Bowser, and Lori Lightfoot, stated that they were sanctuaries, DeSantis and Abbott are sending illegal immigrants to these sanctuary cities and states. They have not, however, been as hospitable as they promised to be when the illegal immigrants arrived in their cities.
However, Lake does have a point. Why bring more illegal immigrants further into the country? Legal immigrants entered America in the proper manner; some took months or even years to do so. Her argument is that we ought to bus these illegal immigrants back to the southern border rather than allowing them to enter the country farther. They must follow the same procedures as everyone else to immigrate to America legally.
