Jimmy Kimmel just couldn’t help himself.
Instead of showing a shred of decency after the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, the late-night comedian used his platform to take cheap shots at President Donald Trump. That’s right—while a family mourns, and a nation reels from the brutal murder of a young conservative leader, Kimmel’s priority is ranting about Trump. Classy.
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically shot and killed during a campus event at Utah Valley University. He was standing under a white tent, speaking to a large crowd, when a gunman opened fire—hitting him in the neck. He was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. A young husband and father of two, gone in an instant.
The country is in shock. Kirk’s murder has sparked outrage across the political spectrum. But when it came time for President Trump to speak out, he didn’t mince words. He called out the dangerous, nonstop demonization of conservatives by the radical left. And he’s not wrong.
Trump posted to Truth Social, saying, “It’s long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible.”
He continued, warning that for years, the left has compared “wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals.” And now we’re seeing the consequences.
But to Jimmy Kimmel? That’s somehow the problem. During Thursday night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the host opened by calling Kirk’s assassination “senseless”—which it absolutely was—but quickly turned his attention to attacking Trump instead of focusing on the actual tragedy.
Kimmel mocked Trump’s response and accused him of escalating political tensions over the last decade. He dug up old quotes, took them out of context, and painted Trump as the reason America is divided. Then he tried to score points by pointing out that other former presidents—Obama, Biden, Bush, and Clinton—shared condolences, while Trump “blamed Democrats.”
Let’s be real here. Trump didn’t just “blame Democrats.” He warned the country about what happens when the media and the political left constantly vilify people like Charlie Kirk. And guess what? He’s right.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson didn’t stay quiet. She fired back at Kimmel, saying, “President Trump speaks the truth. Every single night Jimmy Kimmel gets on TV and divides the American people by fueling hatred and spreading lies about the President, his supporters, and any American who doesn’t agree with his worldview.”
Jackson didn’t hold back, calling Kimmel “an absolute ghoul” for using this tragedy to attack Trump. And honestly, she nailed it.
This isn’t the first time Kimmel has used his show to bash conservatives, but even for him, this is a new low. While the rest of the country is mourning a young man who dedicated his life to defending free speech and conservative values, Kimmel’s out here scoring political points.
Ironically, Kimmel posted a more compassionate message earlier on Instagram, writing, “Can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” That post was respectful. That post was human. But then, when the cameras rolled, he went right back to politics as usual.
Here’s the truth: Charlie Kirk was a warrior for conservative values. He stood up to the woke mob, defended free speech, and inspired thousands of young Americans. His murder is a tragedy, and it deserves more than late-night cheap shots.
Now isn’t the time for finger-pointing and political games. Now is the time to wake up and realize that the hatred being pushed by the media and the radical left has real, deadly consequences.
We lost a good man. And instead of coming together, folks like Jimmy Kimmel are making things worse. Enough is enough.
