Hip-hop turned 50 this week, and the White House celebrated with a party, while Joe Biden persisted in his bewildered presence at the G20 in India. Kamala Harris was there to be the host, but things went wrong.
The vice president did her best dance moves to show that she was real and approachable, as she always does. It didn’t work out.
Remember that Seinfeld episode where Elaine took George to a work party and they started dancing, but it looked like they were about to throw up? Harris’ moves are not that bad, but they’re also not that good. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the guys who began to laugh in the background were doing so with her or at her.
Here’s how it works. It’s not fair to be a leader, or at least it shouldn’t be. Harris cringing at a hip-hop party is not a big deal in and of itself, but it gives a lot of material for jokes. But consider this: given that the exact number of fatalities from the Maui fires is still unknown, should the White House be throwing “let them eat cake” events at which the vice president plays up her “she’s just like us” persona?
Or when the cost of food has increased by 20% since she assumed her position? Or when the majority of Americans no longer have the ability to purchase a home because of exorbitant mortgage rates? Or while government spending keeps reaching new highs, putting the country on the path to bankruptcy? Or while the problem of illegal immigrants is getting out of hand?
If a politician is directly to blame for all of these mistakes, they should probably stop going on blowouts that are partly paid for by taxpayers and at least act like they care about the problems of regular Americans. It doesn’t make Harris seem likable at all; instead, it makes her look totally out of touch like she’s playing around while Rome is burning. Things are horrible in the world, regardless of the spin put out by talking heads on the left. Inflation has grown faster than wages, so prices will continue to go through the roof. Gas prices are going up again, and more individuals are living from paycheck to paycheck.

So Harris might want to focus more on doing her job and less on perfecting her grandmother’s moves, at least in public. Since what she’s doing right now is about as genuine as a Biden campaign event.
