This is what enforcing the law looks like—especially when people think emotions should override it.
A video is going viral showing a woman getting taken down by an ICE agent inside a federal immigration building in New York City. A lot of folks online are treating her like some kind of victim. But let’s be clear—her family is in the country illegally, and the officers were doing their jobs.
Watch the moment for yourself:
The woman in the video is Monica Elizabeth Moreta-Galarza, an Ecuadorian national who’s been living in New York. She’s now speaking out, saying she was in “shock” after being pushed to the ground by a plainclothes ICE agent. But here’s what she’s not saying: her husband was being detained for immigration violations, and instead of staying out of the way, she decided to get in the middle of a law enforcement operation—with her kids right there.
This wasn’t some random street arrest. This happened inside 26 Federal Plaza, where immigration hearings are held. It’s a secure federal facility. You don’t get to run around crying and interfering with agents just because you don’t like what’s happening. This wasn’t a protest. It was law enforcement in action.
In the video, you can see Moreta-Galarza trying to block the agents as they take her husband into custody. One of the agents says “adios” before pushing her away and down to the floor. Now she’s claiming it was excessive force. But let’s be real—when you insert yourself into an arrest, you’re taking a risk.
Moreta-Galarza has also accused this same agent of pulling her hair and yelling at her and her children in the past. That’s a serious claim, and now the Department of Homeland Security has suspended the agent while they investigate. But let’s not lose the plot here: her family is in the U.S. illegally. They’re not at a Starbucks, they’re at immigration court because they’re in trouble.
Of course, the media’s eating it up. Outlets like CBS are giving Moreta-Galarza a platform to cry on camera and plead for leniency. She even made a public appeal to President Trump for “compassion.” But Trump’s policies are about law and order—not feelings. And it’s exactly that kind of clear-eyed enforcement that helped clean up the border in the first place.
Meanwhile, the left is already circling the wagons. Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman, one of the most anti-Trump voices in Congress, jumped on X (formerly Twitter) to whine about “outrageous assault” and demand disciplinary action. DHS officials quickly followed suit, with Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin calling the officer’s behavior “unacceptable.”
Let’s be honest: the only thing that’s unacceptable here is how quickly some people are willing to throw our law enforcement under the bus just to score political points.
Look, every officer should act professionally. No one wants to see unnecessary force. But when someone steps into the path of an active arrest and refuses to comply, what do you expect to happen? A group hug?
As for what happens next, Moreta-Galarza’s family has been granted another court hearing, and her husband is still in custody. No criminal charges have been announced against the agent, though he’s been pulled from duty for now. We’ll see where the investigation goes, but one thing’s crystal clear: this never would’ve happened if the family had respected our laws in the first place.
America is a nation of laws. If you come here illegally, there are consequences. And if you try to interfere when those consequences are enforced, expect to face the heat.
That’s not cruelty—it’s justice.
