A huge number of people, nonprofits, and other groups have stepped up to help the victims of Hurricane Helene since FEMA wasn’t there.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk is one example. He gave people who were affected by the storm free internet through his company Starlink.
Musk wrote on October 1: “We are making a system update that will let all starlinks in the affected places work, no matter what payment you make.”
“In many ways, the private sector is stepping in where the public sector, which is part of the federal government, has failed,” says Dave Rubin.
FEMA is not only a week late and doesn’t have the tools victims need, but they are also getting in the way of people who are trying to help.
