Democrats Rejoice Over Republican “Civil War”

House Republicans are engaged in a “civil war,” according to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who made the statement on ABC’s “This Week.”

Anchor Jonathan Karl stated, “This impeachment investigation is being started by Kevin McCarthy, and he did it only a few days after declaring he would do so without the House taking a complete vote. He still did it. What is happening?”

Jeffries said, “Now let’s be clear: The House Republicans are in the midst of a civil war. Chaos, disorder, and extremism are all things that can be seen in a civil war. The Republican civil war in the House hurts taxpayers who work hard and makes it harder for us to fix issues on their behalf. Though it is regrettable, House Democrats will keep working with Senate Democrats, Senate Republicans, along with President Biden to attempt to reach a consensus with those on the opposite side of the aisle.”

“Hopefully, the House Republicans will follow suit,” he continued, “so that we can work to ensure that the government has the resources necessary to protect the health, safety, and economic security of the American people and to put an end to the partisanship and political gamesmanship that have enthralled House Republicans.”
