Soft-on crime Once again, LA County DA George Gascón refused to file criminal charges on a guy caught on video sexually abusing a woman on a Long Beach city curb because he believed that prosecutors would “not be able to show restraint… nor precise intent.”
It is quite apparent what this attacker wanted to do.
Many of our towns have become war zones because DAs like Gascón, who is backed by George Soros, don’t want to hold criminals accountable and file light charges.
A homeless guy attacked Rebekah Pedersen on October 20 while she walked alone. He rushed up behind her and then lifted her dress, which made her trip and fall. Fortunately, a kind person stepped in and scared the assailant away. The victim was clearly shocked and said the attack was “completely disgusting.”
“When I spun around, I was aware that he began pulling up his pants,” she stated. “If it was not in broad daylight, and the good Samaritan was seated there, the assailant would’ve raped me.”
“Gascón continues to walk away from the most vulnerable victims, kids, victims of sexual assault, as well as our towns.”
“We deserve a lot better.”
The 30-year-old suspected person, Miguel Angel Avila Figueroa, is being detained without being granted a $75,000 bond. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for November 8. Pederson commented that the minor charge made her “outraged” and she believed it was “in every way an attempt to rape.”
Gascon was also asked to rethink by the Long Beach municipal prosecutor’s office, which deals with misdemeanors and was assigned the case when felony charges were not brought. Doug Haubert, the lawyer, wrote in an email this week:
“If you examine the facts carefully I think you will find that this might be an attempted rape or an assault along with the intent of committing rape.”
“If felony charges are brought, the defendant may be facing increased imprisonment, but it could additionally result in more rehabilitation services through Collaboration Court and the Los Angeles County Probation Dept., which aren’t available for misdemeanor offenders.”
“At the very least, filing charges for sexual assault at the felony level will more than likely guarantee the defendant receives access to suitable treatment while subjecting the defendant to extra time in prison or jail, in an attempt to enhance protection for the public.”
Gascón’s office said they were going to look into it, but I would not hold my breath because of how he usually acts. In the end, this is the same person who wouldn’t put a man to death for killing a deputy with the sheriff’s department in cold blood. What did he think? For the families, “it wasn’t going to bring the lives of their son, brother, or fiancé back.” As if that were the only reason for the death penalty to exist: to bring back people who have been killed.
George Gascón decided to decline filing this case as a felony. Today the Long Beach City Attorney sent him a letter asking him to reconsider his decision. Still no comment from Gascón.

In mid-October, Gascón said that he would run for office again in 2024, even though he has a terrible track record of failing. He currently has a lot of opponents. Voters in LA must wake up and recognize the fact that the woke DA is a threat to society and deserves to be removed from office.
