In a move that could only be described as political jiu-jitsu, Republicans are subtly boosting Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) within the Democratic Party ranks—not out of admiration, but as a strategic ploy to sow discord and highlight the party’s radical shift.

During a recent interview, Crockett claimed that Republicans often approach her to express their admiration, saying things like, “Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I really like you” . While she interprets these remarks as genuine praise, it’s more plausible that these “compliments” are part of a calculated effort to elevate her profile, knowing her controversial statements and actions could be detrimental to the Democratic Party’s image.
Crockett’s history of inflammatory comments—such as referring to Governor Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” and suggesting that the U.S. needs migrants because “Black people are done picking cotton” —makes her a liability for the Democrats. By encouraging her ascent, Republicans are effectively allowing her to become the face of the party’s radical wing, thereby alienating moderate voters and creating internal tensions.
As Crockett gains prominence, the Democratic Party risks being defined by her extreme positions and controversial rhetoric. This not only undermines the party’s appeal to centrist voters but also creates opportunities for Republicans to present themselves as the more stable and reasonable alternative.
By subtly promoting Crockett, Republicans are turning the Democrats’ own radical elements against them. It’s a brilliant example of political strategy—using the opposition’s weaknesses to one’s advantage. As the Democrats grapple with the consequences of their internal divisions, Republicans can sit back and watch the spectacle unfold.
