Gavin Newsom just got hit with a truth bomb from an unlikely source: CNN. That’s right, even the left-leaning network has had enough of California’s slick-haired governor trying to rewrite his own radical record now that it’s politically inconvenient.
On Thursday’s episode of OutFront, CNN’s Erin Burnett asked the question on everyone’s mind: “What in God’s name is going on with Gavin Newsom?” It’s a fair question. The man who once stood tall as the poster boy for progressive insanity is now desperately trying to rebrand himself as a centrist who just happened to govern the most liberal, crime-ridden, overtaxed state in America.
Burnett and CNN’s KFile team exposed Newsom’s shameless flip-flops, including his newfound “Who, me?” attitude toward unpopular far-left policies. Take the term “Latinx” — a woke word rejected by 97% of actual Hispanics. Two weeks ago on his podcast, Newsom claimed “Not one person in my office has ever used the word Latinx.” Cute, but CNN quickly aired multiple clips of Newsom and his office using the term repeatedly between 2020 and 2023. Oops.
Then there’s the transgender sports debate. Newsom now wants you to believe he’s just an innocent bystander who happened to be lieutenant governor when California passed a law allowing trans athletes to compete in women’s sports. But as CNN points out, Newsom praised that law publicly — defending it and promoting it. Now, with voters across the country waking up to the fairness issue, suddenly Gavin wants to pretend he had nothing to do with it. Classic.
Why the sudden image overhaul? Easy. Newsom knows the radical left has overplayed its hand, and he wants to scrub his fingerprints from the wreckage in case he needs to step in for Joe Biden. Problem is, receipts exist. And even CNN isn’t playing along anymore.
If this is the guy Democrats are prepping as their next savior, they’re in worse shape than we thought.
