City Candidate’s Voicemail Rant Sparks Outrage and Investigation

There’s unhinged, and then there’s “I hope you die in the street like a dog” unhinged. And folks, we’ve officially entered the second category.

Meet Haley McKnight, a city commission candidate in Helena, Montana, and the latest left-wing meltdown to go viral for all the wrong reasons. In a voicemail so vile it sounds like a rejected scene from a bad political thriller, McKnight let loose on Republican Senator Tim Sheehy with a tirade that included everything from wishing him aggressive cancer to hoping he’d be disowned by his own kids. Oh, and of course, she signed off with “I hope you die.” Real classy.

Don’t just take our word for it. Listen for yourself — but be warned, it’s rough.

This isn’t some anonymous troll. McKnight is a business owner, the head of the Helena Young Professionals group, and one of four candidates running for two seats on the Helena City Commission. And yes, she very clearly identified herself in the voicemail. You can’t make this up.

So what sparked the rage? McKnight’s furious that Senator Sheehy voted for President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill Act, which tightens Medicaid spending and rolls back some bloated entitlements. Instead of debating policy like a grown-up, McKnight decided a death wish was more her style.

Here’s just a taste of her voicemail rant:

“I hope that one day you get pancreatic cancer, and it spreads throughout your body so fast that they can’t even treat you for it. I hope that you die in the street like a dog.”

And it doesn’t stop there.

“I hope that your children never forgive you. I hope that you are infertile. I hope you never manage to get a [expletive] ever again. You are the worst piece of [expletive] I’ve ever, ever, ever had the misfortune of looking at.”

She even ends the call with a twist of menace: “God forbid that you ever meet me on the streets, because I will make you regret it.”

Let’s be crystal clear: that’s not political disagreement. That is a threat. And law enforcement is now involved, as they should be.

But here’s the kicker. When confronted about the voicemail, McKnight didn’t apologize. Not really. She called her verbal assault “justifiable rage” and blamed the timing of the message’s release on political games. She even cried “doxing” and “bullying” — after *she* left her name and threatened a sitting senator’s life.

This is the modern left in a nutshell. They preach compassion and inclusion — right up until someone disagrees with them. Then it’s rage, threats, and total meltdown. And when they get caught? Suddenly, they’re the victims. Give us a break.

Local media like KTVH didn’t help either. Instead of calling this what it is — a despicable, disqualifying act — they let McKnight spin it as some kind of emotional outburst over policy. Sorry, but “I hope you die in the street” doesn’t get softened by “I was just mad.” Imagine if a conservative said one-tenth of this to a Democrat. The media would be running wall-to-wall coverage and demanding resignation.

Senator Sheehy’s office handled it with class. His spokesman said, “We hope Ms. McKnight gets the help she clearly needs.” That’s a generous take. The real takeaway is this: McKnight has no business holding public office at any level. If she’s this unstable over a bill, imagine what she’d do with actual power.

Helena voters, take note. This isn’t just about one voicemail. It’s about judgment, character, and basic decency. And McKnight just proved she’s got none of the above.
