A small plane crash in a residential neighborhood in Hampton, New Hampshire, was caught on a doorbell camera—showing the dramatic moment the aircraft slammed into a tree before spiraling into the ground.
Pilot Survives Shocking Crash Near Homes
At 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, pilot Dave Lennon was attempting a routine landing at Hampton Airfield when something went terribly wrong. His Luscombe 8A aircraft veered off course and came crashing down just feet from a home.
Video footage shows the small plane clipping a tree, spinning mid-air, and smashing into the ground before coming to a halt in a wooded area. Miraculously, Lennon walked away without a single scratch.
Pilot Describes Terrifying Moment
Lennon, a seasoned pilot who has flown from Hampton Airfield hundreds of times, knew immediately that something was wrong.
“It started dipping, and I said to myself, ‘Oh no,'” Lennon told reporters. “I tried to hold onto it to keep it from stalling completely.”
Despite the harrowing crash, he remained grateful to be alive.
“I walked out without a scratch, and I’m fine. That’s all I’ll say. It could have been much worse.”
Close Call for Residents
The crash occurred just feet from a street and nearby homes, narrowly avoiding what could have been a major disaster.
Chris Martin, the homeowner whose doorbell camera caught the crash, couldn’t believe how close it came to tragedy.
“He almost landed on the street. Thank God there weren’t cars,” Martin said.
Authorities confirmed no one on the ground was injured, and the aircraft did not leak any fluids, preventing further risk.
Air Safety Concerns on the Rise
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the crash, adding to a string of recent high-profile aviation accidents.
Late last month, a catastrophic midair collision between an American Eagle flight and a Black Hawk military helicopter in Washington, D.C., resulted in 67 fatalities—marking the deadliest air disaster in nearly 25 years.
As aviation safety concerns grow, this New Hampshire crash serves as a stark reminder of the dangers pilots and passengers face every day.
