Bill Maher just tried to stage an intervention on one of Hollywood’s most Trump-deranged lefties — and the video is going viral for all the right reasons.
During a recent episode of Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, legendary liberal loudmouth Rob Reiner sat down to puff, pontificate, and get a much-needed reality check. Reiner — best known for directing “The Princess Bride” and obsessively ranting about Trump on social media — got hit with some hard truths from Maher, who’s clearly had enough of his friend’s political tunnel vision.

The conversation started casually — two rich Hollywood guys chatting over drinks and weed — but things quickly turned into what can only be described as a deprogramming session. Maher, who’s always seen himself as a liberal but not insane, tried to talk some sense into Reiner about the importance of actually talking to people you disagree with, especially in politics.
“Politics is about making deals. It’s about bargains,” Maher said, pointing out the obvious: Democrats are out of power. They’re not running the show. So, why on Earth would they refuse to talk to the people who are?
But Reiner wasn’t having it. He fired back with the tired liberal excuse that today’s GOP is just beyond reason. You know the type — if someone supports Trump or questions the narrative, they’re labeled as crazy, racist, or worse.
Reiner tried to defend his position with this gem: “If somebody says, ‘Two plus two is four,’ and the other guy says, ‘No, it’s not,’ how do you begin the discussion?”
Maher wasn’t buying it. “Rob, that’s a slippery slope,” he said, clearly frustrated. And he’s right. If you refuse to talk to someone just because they believe something you think is wrong, where does that end?
It was one of those rare moments where Maher actually sounded like the adult in the room. He compared it to a relationship — you’re not going to agree on everything, but if you want that relationship to last, you’ve got to learn when to say those three little words: “Let it go.”
Let it go. Imagine that. A leftist actually advising another leftist to stop obsessing over Trump 24/7 and maybe — just maybe — have a real conversation with someone on the other side.
Reiner, to his credit, didn’t freak out. He actually looked like he was thinking about it. But don’t hold your breath. This is the same guy who’s spent the last decade melting down over Trump on Twitter like it’s his full-time job.
Maher even admitted the Left has messed up — big time. He pointed the finger at Democrats for disasters like the open border, the DEI madness infecting colleges, and the elite universities raising kids to hate America and shut down any opinion they don’t like.
He didn’t hold back. “There is zero diversity of opinion,” Maher said. And he’s right. The modern Left doesn’t want a debate. They want obedience. They want conformity. And if you step out of line? You’re labeled a threat to democracy.
That’s why this clip is catching fire online. It’s not just two celebrities talking politics. It’s one of them finally calling out the delusional thinking that’s taken over his own side. Maher isn’t becoming conservative, but he’s at least recognizing that the far-Left has lost its mind — and that refusing to talk to half the country is a recipe for disaster.
We’ll give credit where it’s due. Maher tried to get through to Reiner. He tried to remind him that screaming “fascist!” at everyone who voted for Trump isn’t going to fix anything.
So the question is: will Reiner wake up? Or will he go right back to Twitter, yelling into the void and pretending anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders is the enemy?
Either way, Maher just gave us a rare moment of sanity from the Hollywood bubble. And that’s worth watching.
