In the event that Donald Trump loses in November, President Joe Biden expressed his concerns about a smooth transfer of power.
Regarding the fictitious scenario of Trump’s defeat, President Biden stated, “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all,” in an interview with CBS News.
“He speaks with sincerity. We don’t give him much credence. He really does mean it. “All this talk about there being carnage if we lose,” Biden continued.
On social media, conservatives quickly corrected Biden’s comment, claiming that the “bloodbath” quotation was taken out of context and that Biden was trying to dissuade Americans from supporting Trump by portraying him as a threat.
Additionally, they emphasized that since Democrats now have the presidency, there will be no change in authority at all.
Biden misquoted Trump’s use of the phrase “bloodbath,” citing his earlier use of the term in reference to the car industry. In no way was the former Republican Party president publicly endorsing or threatening political violence.
According to CNN, “the [bloodbath] statement came in the middle of a long riff on the auto sector, unions, the switch to electric vehicles, and auto facilities in Mexico.”
“This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who loses by over 7 million votes and then, instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience, doubles down on his threats of political violence,” said James Singer, the campaign spokesperson for Joe Biden, in March. The two presidents traded barbs with one another.
Nonetheless, the Trump campaign retaliated after the remarks.
The campaign spokesperson for Trump, Steven Cheung, said that “crooked Joe Biden and his team are indulging in manipulative, out-of-context editing that puts [director] Roman Polanski to shame.”
In his first TV interview since exiting the 2024 race, President Biden tells CBS News' @costareports he's "not confident at all" that a peaceful transfer of power will happen in January 2025 if former President Donald Trump loses.

However, Biden has now withdrawn from the race after receiving pressure to do so from Democratic elites and leaders because of his dismal performance in the debate versus Trump and low polling numbers.
