AOC Under Fire For New Anti-Police Comments

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a fervent proponent of the movement of “defunding the police,” has drawn criticism for opposing raises for New York City police officers, alleging that Mayor Eric Adams has been “defunding safety” in spite of the city’s ongoing violence issue.

Far-left Progressive Ocasio-Cortez, often referred to by her nickname AOC, was a guest on “The Daily Show” on Monday. She went on a tirade against law enforcement and criticized Adams for granting raises to “militarized” police in an effort to address staffing shortages.

“When we take all of these assets and insist that every department but the militarized one be slashed, we have reached a position where most policemen are paid higher than a teacher holding a master’s degree,” according to Ocasio-Cortez. “We are communicating who we are and what matters to us.”

Many people, including a New York City lady who lost her sight after being savagely attacked by an ongoing career criminal aboard the subway in September, responded negatively to AOC’s comments.

Elizabeth Gomes slammed AOC for her position that public schools, parks, pools, and libraries should receive the funds that were instead designated for the city’s police officers during an interview on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” on Thursday.

On September 20 of this year, Waheed Foster, a 41-year-old homeless guy and convicted felon who had previously served numerous sentences in jail, assaulted Gomes in a Queens subway terminal.

“It’s because we don’t feel safe, because the right people aren’t there to help us when we need them,” she added. “I wasn’t thinking about phoning a teacher or a lifeguard for a pool at the time I was sprinting up the subway station. I wanted to call the cops.”

Gomes questioned how Foster, a violent serial offender with a lengthy criminal record, was even on the streets before he was detained and charged in connection with the attack.

“He had a criminal record. He spent a lot of time behind bars,” Gomes added. “At age 14, he murdered his foster grandma…He was slated to spend a significant amount of time behind bars. With all the felons and cases he had in his rearview mirror, he shouldn’t have even been strolling the street at all.”
