Why Americans are Hypocrites on Big Tech

People say they care about their privacy, but actions speak louder than words. With the new Facebook glasses coming out, will people hop on the newest technology, or decide they don’t want Mark Zuckerberg recording everything they do?

Facebook plans to launch the smart glasses as their next product with RayBan. The glasses will potentially give you the ability to record everything you do, similar to a body cam or go pro.

But there are privacy concerns as well. What happens if your Facebook smart glasses don’t like something you’ve said about the election? What if you “violated” quarantine and took a walk around the neighborhood?

What about ads? Will they be target to where you travel, with ads popping up in your vision as you near the next coffee shop?

Americans say they value their privacy, but this new tech will test this belief in a whole new way. The government may not need to take away our freedoms after all. Maybe they just need to keep working with Facebook to keep an eye on us?

Walsh says, “Wearing Facebook glasses I think would be a pretty extreme way to sacrifice your own privacy.”
