10 Reasons Why You Should Grow Your Own Food

There are ten simple reasons why you should begin to grow your own food – something that is becoming increasingly important since the supply chains in America are getting into a dire situation.

Reason One:

It is easy – perennial edible landscapes are easier to grow than a lawn.

Reason Two:

Abundance – There is no limit to the amount of food that you could produce for generations to come by planting bountiful fruit trees and other high yield crops. – space permitting of course.

Reason Three:

Food Security – this being a big reason and is pretty much self-explanatory – you have no doubt witnessed the dwindling supplies at local grocery stores. Growing your own food can ensure that at the very least you and your family will have the basics ready.

Reason Four:

Amazing Flavor – growing your own food will allow what you put into your body to be free of pesticides and other things that dull down what is currently being bought at stores, most of which is mass produced. Home grown produce often contains more vitamins and nutrients than store bought.

Reason Five:

Anxiety/Stress – gardening is not only satisfying when you can see what you have produced, but it also acts as a stress reliever and can help with fitness.

Reason Six:

Reverse Deforestation – many thousands of acres of land are cleared every year to produce more food, while everyday people are usually surrounded by a useless lawn that doesn’t produce anything but more work.

Reason Seven:

Reverse Mass Extinction – the chemicals and additives that we use to produce food, are slowly killing us all – this is no secret, and they also contaminate the soil too.

Reason Eight:

Replenish soils – as above, the various pesticides and other chemicals used to mass produce food are poisoning the soil.

Reason Nine:

Reverse Disease – since we have begun to mass produce food, diseases have also gone up and cancer has become a frequent occurrence – a lot of the time related to the pesticides that have been used.

Reason Ten:

Freedom – Food security brings freedom and independence, you are suddenly no longer reliant on the local grocery store for your food, so need to worry if they are suddenly sold out.
